Planning your own reception or memorial

Having a reception after the funeral service, or arranging a memorial, can give you the chance to come together with friends and family and celebrate your loved one’s life. If this is something you’re considering, these ideas from our team could help you get started.

Wander through hidden trails in areas of natural beauty

As an alternative to the famous waterfront, take a walk at Whitehawk Hill Nature Reserve, ending with panoramic views of the city. Just a 30-minute walk from the beach, it's the perfect place to celebrate the life of a Brightonian.

Take time to reflect with a fishing trip

If your loved one enjoyed fishing or spending time on the water, this could be a great way to commemorate their life. There are lots of beach spots, or you could organise a boat from the marina.

Come together for some comforting food

Brighton is a haven for foodies – get lost in the offerings of local lanes, or book for a larger group at an award-winning restaurant. There's something for everyone, so you can come together and remember your loved one.
