Planning your own reception or memorial

Having a reception after the funeral service, or arranging a memorial, can give you the chance to come together with friends and family and celebrate your loved one’s life. If this is something you’re considering, these ideas from our team could help you get started.

Sail together on the Solent

If your loved one had a passion for sailing, spending an afternoon on the water could be a great way to honour their memory. Hire a boat with a group so you can share stories on the sea, and feel connected to your loved one.

Visit a local vineyard and enjoy beautiful views

Rosemary's Vineyard was planted on the Island in 1986 and covers 30 acres of land. Strolling through the peaceful vineyard, discovering the many varieties of vines or even sampling a few of their drinks could be a special way to send off a wine lover.

Wander your way down the Red Squirrel Trail

Named in honour of the Isle of Wight's most iconic species, no longer be found on the mainland. You could choose a section of the trail to cycle or walk to see some of the wildlife or catch a glimpse of the illusive squirrel. A fitting way to remember someone who deeply cared about wild animals or conservationism.
