We’re crowdfunding

Equity crowdfunding is a way for private companies (which aren’t listed on the stock exchange) to get investment from a broad range of investors (the crowd). Through the crowdfunding process, individuals buy shares in the company – in this case, Farewill. If the company performs well, return on these investments are typically made via a liquidity event such as an IPO (when a private company first sells shares of stock to the public), or when a company is bought by another company. However, it’s important to be aware that if the company fails, anyone who has invested through the crowdfunding process can lose some, or all, of their investment.

Our online wills are available to all investors. We’ll email your vouchers after the completion of the round. The offer can only be redeemed by people living in England and Wales, without business assets, or assets overseas. It excludes particularly complex estates requiring a bespoke will.

EIS is short for ‘Enterprise Investment Scheme’. The scheme helps companies like Farewill raise money to grow their business, by offering tax relief to individual investors who are buying new shares.

All investors in this round will receive Series B shares, which are EIS eligible, allowing investors to claim up to 30% income tax relief on their investment. When applying for EIS tax relief, the anti-dilution right they enjoy is waived.

After completion, Crowdcube and Farewill will automatically make an EIS application on behalf of all investors who have opted in for EIS. If an investor is currently opted in for tax relief but would prefer to keep their anti-dilution right, they are able to opt out of EIS tax relief in the "My account" section of their Crowdcube profile prior to the closing of the round. Yes, to take part in our crowdfund, you’ll need a Crowdcube account. If you don't already have one, just head to our pre-registration page on Crowdcube. They’ll prompt you to set up an account before you pre-register, so there’s one less thing to do when we go live.

On 2 November, we opened the crowdfund to people who pre-registered. We opened to the full Crowdcube community at noon on 3 November.

You must be over 18 years old to invest. Due to local laws and regulations, retail investors in the USA, Canada and Japan will not be able to invest in this crowdfund. Outside those countries, this opportunity is open to anyone over the age of 18, anywhere in the world.

Once the crowdfunding reaches its target and closes to further investments, the completion process starts. If you’ve invested, Crowdcube will send you a copy of the Articles of Association via email, and explain the cooling off period, which is usually 7 days. Once the cooling off period has expired, they’ll start the payment collections process and then issue electronic Certificates of Beneficiary Ownership.
